Why are India’s most affluent leaving?

In a conversation with India House, Sanjaya Baru — former media advisor to PM Manmohan Singh — discusses his latest book, Secession of the Successful: The Flight Out of New India.

He raises concerns about the growing role of the government in facilitating the emigration of India’s HNIs and gifted elites, the very cohort which benefited the most from economic liberalization and booming markets. He says that the trend is deeply worrying for a developing nation.
