Borders Divide Nations. But They Also Divide Lives.

The Partition of 1947 redrew maps, separating families, friendships, homes, and memories. Millions of people on both sides of the new border were forced to leave behind everything they had ever known, carrying with them stories of loss that continue across generations.

Perhaps that’s why Bollywood has returned to this theme time and again.

From Henna and Refugee to Veer-Zaara, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, and now Main Wapis Aaunga, these films remind us that while borders are created by politics, they cannot sunder human ties.

Cinema cannot change history. But it can remind us that behind every border are people whose stories deserve to be remembered.
