David Attenborough @ 100
For decades, one voice introduced humanity to the beauty of Earth.
Through legendary BBC documentaries like Planet Earth, Blue Planet, and Life on Earth, Sir David Attenborough showed the world forests, glaciers, oceans, deserts, and wildlife in ways most people had never seen before.
For more than 70 years, he dedicated his life to documenting the earth and reminding humanity that nature is not separate from civilization — it is what sustains it.
Scientists have named dozens of species after him, including:
Zaglossus attenboroughi — Attenborough’s long-beaked echidna
Euptychia attenboroughi — a rare Amazonian butterfly
Platysaurus attenboroughi — an African lizard species
Sirdavidia solannona — a flowering plant named in his honor
But perhaps his greatest achievement is something bigger: making generations care about a planet they may never fully understand.
India House Foundation thanks Sir David Attenborough for his lifelong contributions to environmental awareness and conservation, and for inspiring humanity to protect the earth.
